About This Location

The James A. Bailey House at 10 St. Nicholas Place is one of Manhattan's few surviving Gilded Age mansions. Built 1886–1888 in the Romanesque Revival style for James A. Bailey — co-founder of Barnum & Bailey Circus — it was designed by architect Samuel B. Reed and is a New York City Landmark.
