About This Location

A great set-piece of Season 2, opened May 24, 1883. Peggy Scott, working as a journalist, experiences its opening as transformative. The bridge physically connected Brooklyn — where the Scotts live — to Manhattan. Emily Warren Roebling, referenced in the show, supervised construction after her husband Washington Roebling was incapacitated by caisson disease. She became the bridge's de facto chief engineer, mastering mathematics, cable construction, and materials science. On opening day, she was the first person to cross the completed bridge — a powerful symbol of women's capability that resonates with the show's themes of female ambition.

The Brooklyn Bridge still stands and carries thousands of pedestrians and vehicles daily. Walking across it is one of New York's great free experiences.

Still standing. Opened May 24, 1883. Exact coordinates known.
