Prince George Ballroom (Fan-spotted)
15 E 27th St, NoMad
A Beaux-Arts Survivor
The Prince George Ballroom, inside the former Prince George Hotel at 15 East 27th Street, is one of New York's finest surviving grand ballroom interiors — a soaring Beaux-Arts hall of ornate plasterwork, gilded columns, and painted ceiling that captures the spirit of the era better than almost any room left in the city. The hotel opened in 1904, in the years just after the show's timeline, when the blocks north of Madison Square were dense with fashionable hotels; its ballroom and tea rooms served the same social rituals — dances, receptions, charity entertainments — that the series stages. Rooms like this once existed by the dozen in Manhattan; nearly all fell with their hotels, which is what makes this one so valuable.
Decline and Rescue
The Prince George's later history is one of New York's great rescue stories. By the 1980s the hotel had become the city's most notorious welfare hotel, housing hundreds of homeless families in grim conditions, before closing at the end of the decade. In the 1990s the nonprofit Common Ground (now Breaking Ground) transformed the building into supportive and affordable housing — and painstakingly restored the derelict ballroom to its original splendor. Today the ballroom operates as an event space whose proceeds support the housing above it: a Gilded Age room doing, arguably, the most useful work of its life.
The Season 4 Sighting
In March 2026 a fan reported Season 4 filming at the ballroom, and Time Out New York separately covered costumed filming activity at 15 East 27th Street. HBO has not officially confirmed the location, but the logic is compelling: the show's ballroom scenes require large, authentic period interiors, and the Prince George is a proven stand-in that has hosted numerous period productions. Its position in NoMad also places it steps from the show's Madison Square geography — Delmonico's, the Brunswick, and the other pins clustered around the old social center of the 1880s. As with all fan-spotted pins, treat this as a strong lead rather than an official credit.
Fan-spotted by Reddit user u/tuhhhvates and reported on March 24, 2026. No official HBO confirmation. The Prince George Ballroom is a genuine Gilded Age-era landmark interior and a highly plausible filming location for the show.
