About This Location

The show's central stage — Agnes van Rhijn's old-money brownstone faces the Russells' palatial new mansion across 61st St. Their proximity drives the entire social drama. The street was built on a backlot at the Museum of American Armor in Bethpage, Long Island.

Bergdorf Goodman department store (754 Fifth Ave), built 1928. Remnants of the mansion survive: its iron gates now stand in Central Park, sculptural reliefs are in the Sherry-Netherland Hotel, and a grand fireplace is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Show explicitly names this corner. The NE corner of 61st & 5th Ave is historically documented.
