About This Location

The centerpiece of Season 2 — Bertha Russell fights for a center box here, her ultimate social conquest. Interiors blended Philadelphia's Academy of Music, Albany's Palace Theatre, and a purpose-built curved set. Demolished 1966.

An office building stands at Broadway & 39th St today. The Met relocated to Lincoln Center in September 1966, where it still performs. The original house was demolished later that year.
